Great book! It is a hardcover printed on a heavy stock that showcases the images very well. The book is divided into 3 main sections, with lots of very well reproduced images.
The first section goes into the science and mechanics of how snow crystals are formed.
The second covers the equipment and how-to of shooting your own images of snowflakes.
And the final section covers post processing the many shots in software to arrive at the final image.
Highly recommended read if you are interested in the science, or photography of snowflakes or even just looking at all the pretty pictures of these short lived wonders.
It was a catalyst in rekindling my interest in macro photography!

Just a small update went and obtained a LED macro ring light from Amazon, and a pile of adapter rings from BHPhoto

Stay tuned for an upcoming review of all these new bits, not sure how well a LED ring light (60 high intensity leds in it) will work out.
But the pile of adapter rings seem to work a treat, getting me to 4x life-size by reversing a 50mm lens and attaching it to a 200mm lens.
A response long time coming(I forgot about it). It turns out the led ring light is too weak for true handheld macro work,
it would work for a hard mounted (tripod) camera and still subject. I ended up purchasing a Yongnuo YN-14EX II TTL Macro Ring Flash from Amazon.
The Yongnuo YN-14EX II TTL Macro Ring Flash is a well built clone of the Canon Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX II at 1/3 the cost.
And as such seem to work very well.
